Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) is financed by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India. Altogether 20 different vocational courses are imparted and 21 Life Enrichment Education are organized in different part of the District. The illiterates and neo-literates, the under privilege and the unreached are trained to become self reliant and self assured employees and entrepreneurs.
The JSS Senapati conti,nues to impart vocational training in various parts of the District to the underprivileged and particularly the rural women. JSS Senapati selects vocational courses according to the need and aptitude of the beneficiaries. After successfully participating in the training programs the beneficiaries are able to venture out and start an income generating activity for themselves and their families instead of depending on others.
JSS Senapati established a weaving centre at Waichong Village. This programme is very helpful for the women of this area as it helps them generate good amount of income without expensive investment and the best part is that there is no need for the beneficiaries to leave their homes and go on long trips for earning their livelihood.
Beauty Culture, Cutting and Tailoring
These two training courses easily enable the trainees to earn their living without investing much; they can establish their own centre and start their own business. The training centres are at Namdilong and Chalwa.
This training is being run at CHAMS. The trainees after the successful completion of the training do brisk business by selling their finished products in the locality and main market. Their business really flourishes during festive season.
This is one of the most successful training courses of JSS Senapati. Not only do the trainees benefit from this training course but also people living around the area as they get the opportunity to buy professionally made furniture at competitive rates and get to hire professionals to build their houses. The JSS, Senapati is focusing on the poor, the illiterates, the neo-literates, the underprivileged and the un-reached. It is unique because it not only provides skill development, but link literacy with vocational skills and provides large doses of Life Enrichment Education (LEE) to the People. It is Working with people and aiming for convergence with other stakeholders in society with an endeavor to shape the beneficiaries into self reliant and self assured employees and entrepreneurs.
International Women’s Day
This day was celebrated with gusto along with local women. The women participated actively make it a successful program. People in and around the area were invited and Resource persons delivered speeches on the role of women and their importance in the family and society.
There is no better awareness Programme on JSS than to advertise our activities and introduce our programs through Extrainees Meet. The meeting was conducted so that people can become aware of what JSS is all about and how through this, their lives can also change. They can also lead better lives and many have come into awareness that JSS is trying to help them become self reliant and independent.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
As International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed it was sad to know the situation of Manipur. AIDS has emerged as a new and serious public health emergency in Manipur. HIV positive cases in Manipur are reported highest among Injecting Drug Users. Manipur is one of the six high prevalence states in India with HIV prevalence rate among pregnant women. More and more interior and hill areas are affected and yet to be covered. It was a perfect platform to inform the public and create awareness.
Another menace that has recently raised its ugly head is the frequent reporting of illicit trafficking of children as well women.
